Quotations
Quotations in LawServa let you give a client a written estimate before a file is opened. For conveyancing, LawServa calculates the scale fee under the Solicitors' Remuneration Order 2023, stamp duty with any remission, an RPGT estimate, disbursements and SST, and shows the working and authority behind each figure. For contentious work it produces a quotation where the firm states its own fee. Front desk staff and fee earners use it at the enquiry stage.
Before You Start
You need the quotation view permission. Quotations are under Money in the rail.
Preparing a Conveyancing Quotation
- Choose Quotations under Money.
- Press New Quotation. The Prepare a Quotation form opens.
- Choose who We Act For, and link a Matter if there is one.
- Enter the Consideration and Market Value, and the loan amount if there is one.
- Complete the other fields that apply and save.

Each figure on the quotation shows how it was worked out. The printed quotation is produced from the stored lines, so it will not change later if rates change.
The Rate Book
Rate Book is a tab of Quotations. It holds the dated rates the calculator uses, so a quotation always uses the rate that applied on its date.
Contentious Quotations
For litigation and other contentious work the scale does not apply, so the firm states its fee. Under How the Fee Is Charged you choose one agreed figure, an agreed fee by stage, or an estimate at hourly rates, enter the Professional Fee, and itemise disbursements. SST is charged on the fee only. The printed quotation says that the fee is agreed rather than scaled, and that it does not include any costs the client may be ordered to pay the other side.

Does the Quotation Include SST?
Yes. SST is added to the professional fee. It is not charged on disbursements.
Can I Turn a Quotation Into a Matter?
A quotation can be linked to a matter using the Matter field, and AI Lawyer Import can create a quotation from a document.
Why Did an Old Quotation Not Change After the Rates Were Updated?
Quotations are printed from the lines stored when they were prepared, so they keep the figures you gave the client.
