FoodServa and POSERVA
FoodServa Menu Setup
The Menu in FoodServa lets you build the food and drink list that staff use when taking F&B table orders. You group dishes into menu categories, give each dish a price and photos, and add choices such as sizes (Item Options), cooking requests (Preferences) and extras (Addons). Each menu category can print to its own kitchen printer, so drinks go to the bar and food goes to the kitchen. It is used by restaurant owners and managers when opening an outlet or changing the menu.
Before You Start
- You need a manager or owner role that can open Settings > Menu.
- Add your kitchen and bar printers first in Settings > Printers so you can assign them to categories. See Receipts, Refunds and Printing.
- Set organisation defaults for tax and service charge in Settings > Tax and Settings > Service Charges.
Create a Menu Category
- Go to Settings > Menu.
- Press Add beside the category list. The Add Category dialog opens.
- Enter the Category Name, for example ''Rice Dishes'' or ''Desserts''.
- Leave Service Charge (%) and Tax (%) blank to use the organisation default, or enter a rate for this category.
- Choose a Kitchen Printer. Orders for items in this category will print to this printer.
- Optionally set Default Preferences and Default Addons. Every item in the category starts with these, so you do not need to repeat them on each dish.
- Press Save.
Add a Dish
- In Settings > Menu, select the category and press Add beside the item list. The Add Item dialog opens.
- Enter the Item Name (for example ''Nasi Goreng'') and the Normal Price, then press Save.
- Select the new item in the list to open Item Details and complete the rest of the fields.
- Press Save.
| Field | What It Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Item Name | Name shown to staff and on the kitchen slip and invoice | Nasi Goreng Kampung |
| Item Code | Your own short code for the dish | NG001 |
| Description | Optional description | Fried rice with anchovies |
| Normal Price | Price used when no option is selected | 12.90 |
| Service Charge (%) | Blank uses the category default | 10 |
| Tax (%) | Blank uses the category default | 6 |
| Images | Photos of the dish; you can rotate, flip or reset an image in the editor | nasi-goreng.jpg |
You can drag items to change their order in the list. The order you set is the order staff see when taking orders.
Options, Preferences and Addons
Each dish can carry three kinds of choices. Staff see them in the order screen under Options, Preferences and Add-ons.
| Choice | Use It For | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Item Options | Sizes or variants that change the price | Regular, Large (+RM2.00) |
| Preferences | Cooking and serving requests | Less spicy, No onion, Ice on the side |
| Addons | Extra items added to the dish | Fried egg, Extra chicken |
- Open the dish in Item Details.
- Under Item Options, add each option and its price.
- Under Preferences, add the requests staff can tick.
- Under Addons, choose the extras that can be added to this dish.
- Press Save.
Edit or Remove a Dish
- In Settings > Menu, select the dish.
- Change any field in Item Details and press Save.
- To remove a dish, press Delete and confirm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Drinks Print at the Bar and Food in the Kitchen?
Yes. Set a different Kitchen Printer on each menu category. When an order is placed, each item prints to the printer of its category.
What Happens If I Leave Tax Blank on a Dish?
The dish uses the category's tax rate, and a blank category uses the organisation default.
Can Staff Add a Free-Text Note to a Dish?
Yes. When adding a dish to an order, staff can type special instructions in the Notes box, and the note prints on the kitchen slip.
Are Menu Items the Same as POS Items?
The Menu is used for F&B table ordering. Retail goods and items sold at the counter are managed in Settings > Point of Sale.
