Holiday Eves and Duration Rate Tiers

Holiday Eves and duration tiers in Snooker King let you price count-up table time by the calendar and by how long a customer plays. A Holidays rate applies on each date you list in Holiday Management, a Holiday Eves rate applies on the day before each of those dates, and Duration Tiers change the hourly rate as the game runs longer, for example a cheaper rate after the first hour. It is used by owners and managers who charge more on festive nights or reward long sessions.

This guide goes deeper than Tables, Table Types and Game Rates, which covers adding tables and ordinary rates.

Before You Start

You need an owner account, or a manager account with Count Up Games ticked under Setting Permissions on the employee record.
Your tables and a default rate that covers every trading hour must already exist. See Tables, Table Types and Game Rates.
Everything in this guide is on the Count Up Games tab of Settings. It applies to count-up games only. Countdown packages have their own prices.

How Holidays and Holiday Eves Are Defined

Snooker King does not use a built-in public holiday calendar. A day counts as a holiday only if you add it in Holiday Management for your centre.

Adding a Holiday

Open Settings and choose the Count Up Games tab.
Scroll to Holiday Management and press Add Holiday.
Enter the Holiday Name, for example Merdeka Day.
Pick the Holiday Date.
Set Recurring Annually to Yes for a fixed date or No for a single year.
Press Save.

Adding the holiday is what switches on both your Holidays rates (on that date) and your Holiday Eves rates (on the day before). A holiday with no matching rate changes nothing.

Adding a Holiday Eves Rate

On the Count Up Games tab, go to Rate Settings and choose a table in Select Table.
Press Add Rate.
Set Rate Type to Holiday Eves.
Enter the From Time and To Time for the hours the eve price should apply, for example 18:00 to 02:00.
Enter the Hourly Rate (Default), or tick Enable Duration Tiers (see below).
Tick Also apply to other tables if the same price should apply to more tables.
Press Save.

Repeat with Rate Type set to Holidays for the holiday itself.

How Holiday Rates Rank Against Other Rate Types

Only rates whose time window covers the moment being billed are considered. Among those, Snooker King picks one rate using this priority (lower number wins), which matches the How Rates Are Applied explainer on the tab:

If two matching rates share a priority, the narrower scope wins (a rate for this table beats one for its table type, which beats one for the whole centre). Only if the scope is also equal does the higher hourly rate win.

What this means in practice:

A Holiday Eves rate beats a Friday or All Weekends (Sat-Sun) rate on the same evening.
A Specific Date rate beats a holiday or eve rate, so use it for a one-night event price.
When a date is both a holiday and the eve of another holiday (for example two holidays on consecutive days), a Holidays rate and a Holiday Eves rate can both match. They share priority 2, so the narrower scope wins, then the higher rate.
Outside the eve rate's hours, the next matching rate (such as your weekday or default rate) applies as normal.

Worked Example: Holiday Eve

Your centre has a Center Default rate of RM 12.00 per hour from 10:00 to 10:00, and a Holiday Eves rate of RM 20.00 per hour from 18:00 to 02:00. Merdeka Day (31 August) is in Holiday Management. A game runs on 30 August from 17:00 to 20:00.

Each part is charged as hours played multiplied by its hourly rate. The table's minimum charge still applies if the total is lower than it.

Duration Tiers

Duration tiers let one rate charge different hourly prices depending on how many minutes the game has been running. Tiers are set per rate, so a Holiday Eves rate can have its own tiers.

Adding Duration Tiers to a Rate

In Add Rate (or when editing a rate), tick Enable Duration Tiers. The Hourly Rate (Default) field hides, because the tiers now set the price. Two starting tiers appear: 0 to 60 minutes and 60 minutes onwards.
For each tier, enter the start minute, the end minute and the /hr rate.
Press + Add Tier to add another tier. The last tier is always the catch-all with no end.
Press Save.

Snooker King checks the tiers when you save:

Worked Example: Tiers on One Rate

A Table Default rate from 10:00 to 10:00 has tiers of 0 to 60 minutes at RM 12.00 and 60 minutes onwards at RM 9.00. A game runs for 2 hours 30 minutes.

Minutes are counted from the start of the game (the start of the round), not from the start of the rate's time window.

Tier Mode: When a Game Crosses Two Rates

A game can start under one rate and continue under another, for example a day rate that ends at 18:00 and an evening rate that starts then. Tier Mode in Charging Settings on the Count Up Games tab decides how tiers behave at that change. It applies to the whole centre.

Tier Mode	What Happens
Start Period Rates (default)	The tiers of the rate the game started under are used for the whole game, even after the time window changes.
Carry Over Elapsed	Each rate uses its own tiers, but minutes already played carry over, so the customer keeps moving into deeper tiers.
Reset Per Period	Each rate uses its own tiers, and the tier count restarts at tier 1 when the rate changes.

Tier Mode only affects rates that have Enable Duration Tiers ticked. A part of the game that falls under a rate without tiers is charged at that rate's plain hourly price.

Worked Example: Tier Mode

Two weekday rates on the same table, both with tiers:

Day rate, 10:00 to 18:00: 0 to 60 minutes RM 12.00, then RM 9.00.
Evening rate, 18:00 to 02:00: 0 to 60 minutes RM 16.00, then RM 13.00.

A game runs from 17:00 to 19:00.

Notes

The free period decides only whether a short game is free. Once a game passes it, the full time played is charged, and tiers count from minute 0.
The table's minimum charge is applied after holiday rates and tiers. If the total is below it, the minimum charge is billed.
Member discounts are set on the membership plan, not on the rate. See Members and Membership Plans.
Make sure your ordinary rates still cover every trading hour. A Holiday Eves rate covers only its own hours on eve days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Snooker King Know the Malaysian Public Holidays Automatically?

No. Only the dates you add in Holiday Management count as holidays, and each holiday's eve is the day before it. Add state holidays too if your centre observes them.

Which Wins on a Friday That Is a Holiday Eve?

The Holiday Eves rate, because holiday and eve rates rank above day-of-week and weekday or weekend rates. A Specific Date rate would beat both.

Do I Need a Separate Holiday Eves Rate for Each Holiday?

No. One Holiday Eves rate applies to the eve of every holiday in your list. Use a Specific Date rate if one particular eve needs a different price.

Why Is the Second Hour Cheaper on the Bill?

The winning rate has Enable Duration Tiers ticked, so the hourly price changes after the minutes set in the first tier. Open the rate in Rate Settings to see its tiers.

Which Tier Mode Should I Choose?

Start Period Rates keeps the price the customer started with and is the easiest to explain. Carry Over Elapsed keeps rewarding long play at the new period's prices. Reset Per Period charges the new period's full first-tier price.
