AI Lawyer in LawServa is an assistant that answers questions from your firm's own records, under your own permissions, and drafts notes, letters, time entries and diary entries for you to check. It never writes a record by itself: a person presses the button, and the saved field is permanently flagged as machine drafted. It is used by fee earners, clerks and partners who want quick answers about their files.
The subscription owner decides for each firm whether AI reads that practice's files at all, in the Firm Owner Console under AI Lawyers (see Firm Management, Staff and Access). If the Ask AI Lawyer button does not appear, AI is switched off for your firm or you do not have access. Each drafting kind also needs the permission of the record it would create.
AI Lawyer only reads. It can look up matters, clients, deadlines, fees, unbilled work, CDD, client money, documents, letters, undertakings, approvals, your own time, the risk radar, safe custody and how-to guides for LawServa. It never shows a file you are walled off from. Earlier conversations are under Conversations.
When you open AI Lawyer, For You Today shows what it has noticed before you ask: client ledgers in debit or overdue for reconciliation, your overdue and imminent dates, files waiting for your approval, undertakings you gave, enquiries gone quiet, post waiting to be filed, aged unbilled work and answers waiting for review. Each has a one-press question and a link to the screen.
Choose Drafts under Files.
In Ask AI Lawyer, the + menu offers Take Photo (up to 10 pages as one document) and Upload File (PDF, Word or photographs).
Discarding an import keeps a record of it rather than deleting it. A receipt imported this way is recorded as an office account disbursement and never touches client money.
Across LawServa you will find AI buttons that read a MyKad, passport or SSM certificate to prefill CDD, summarise a document, suggest intake questions, propose chronology facts where the date is written in the text, and draft invoice and time narratives.
Every AI answer is queued for an advocate and solicitor to review under Assistant Supervision in Firm Management, and marked sound, corrected or unsafe with Record Review. Standing instructions for the assistant are kept on the same screen.
