Checkout at the Point of Sale

The Point of Sale in POSERVA and FoodServa is the till screen where cashiers ring up counter sales. You add items by tapping or scanning a barcode, attach a member or sales agent if needed, apply discounts, and take payment in one window. It is used by cashiers in retail shops and at the counter of F&B outlets for takeaway, retail goods and walk-in sales.

Before You Start

Items must exist and be Active. See Items, Categories and Combos.
Select the correct Center at the top of the screen. The sale, the stock deduction and the cash are recorded against it.
A barcode scanner that types like a keyboard can be used without extra setup.

Open the Point of Sale

Go to the Operations screen.
Press the round Point of Sale button.
The Point of Sale window opens with categories on the left, items in the middle and the bill on the right.

On a phone, the Counter Sale tile offers a simpler screen: tap items to build the sale, add an optional customer and take payment.

Ring Up a Sale

Choose a category, or All Items, and tap an item to add it. Use Search... to find an item by name.
To add by barcode, scan the product while the Point of Sale window is open. An exact barcode match is added to the cart straight away.
If the item has options (for example sizes), choose one in the Choose an option window.
Change the Qty of a line, or remove a line, in the cart. Press Clear All to empty the cart.
Check the bill in Breakdown, then press Process Payment.

Attach a Member

Linking a member gives them their member discount, lets them pay with Credits or redeem Points or Stamps, and records the sale in their history.

In the Customer section, type in Search Member (name or mobile), or tap the member's card on the card reader.
Select the member. Their Membership, Name and Mobile No. appear.
To sell without a member, leave it as Non-Member. To undo a link, press Remove Member.

Add a Sales Agent

If your business pays commission, the Sales Agent section appears in the Point of Sale. Tap each agent's card, or type in Tap card or search Sales Agent, to add them to the sale. Several agents can be added to one sale.

Deposits

The Point of Sale also handles refundable deposits (for example, a container or equipment deposit):

Switch to Deposits and use Collect to take a deposit. Tap a deposit item to add it, then press Collect Deposit.
Use Held to see deposits already collected. Select a held deposit to refund or forfeit it.

Send the Sale to a Tab

If the customer is not paying yet, press Send to Tab instead of Process Payment. The items stay on a running tab until you settle it. See Running Tabs.

Service Charge	Service charge on the bill, if your outlet charges it
Total Excluding Tax	Amount before tax
Total Tax Amount	SST or other tax on the bill

Rounding	Rounding adjustment, by default to the nearest 5 sen, for payment methods that have rounding turned on
GRAND TOTAL	The amount the customer pays

Frequently Asked Questions

The Scanner Added Nothing. What Should I Check?

Make sure the Point of Sale window is open and the item's Barcode in its settings matches the code on the product exactly. If the code is not found, the system checks whether it is a member or agent card instead.

Can I Sell an Item That Is Out of Stock?

The till shows the current stock on each item. Follow your outlet's policy, then correct the count afterwards with a stock adjustment. See Stock Management.

Can I See the Bill Before Taking Payment?

Yes. Press View Proforma to show or print a proforma bill.
